Terms of Use
The terms for using this site.
These terms govern your use of carl.wentzel.ai — the CARL standard and its documentation, the repository scanner, spec comments, the Builder request form, and the hosted assessor. The site is operated by Wentzel Investments LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“Wentzel.ai”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to these terms. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy & Cookies notice. If you use the site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.
Owner-approved 2026-10-04; no counsel review. Last updated 2026-10-04.
The CARL standard and its license
The text of the CARL Standard v1.0 specification is licensed under CC BY-ND 4.0: you may copy and redistribute it unmodified, with attribution, but you may not distribute modified versions. The license page sets out exactly what that grant covers.
Everything else on the site — CARL’s code, the reference prompts, the criteria catalog, the rest of the documentation, and the site itself — is owned by Wentzel Investments LLC, and all rights are reserved. The CARL and Wentzel.ai names and logos are covered by our trademark policy. Reading the standard and self-attesting your own repository against it is free and needs no account.
The scanner and the assessor
The repository scanner fetches the public GitHub repository you submit and sends its name and files to an AI model to produce its findings. Submit only repositories that are publicly available on GitHub. Scans are rate-limited per IP address; do not try to get around those limits.
Scanner findings are generated by an AI model and may be wrong or incomplete. A scan result, an assessment, or a CARL level shown on this site is informational: it is not a certification, an audit, or an endorsement by Wentzel.ai. How to make an honest claim about your repository is set out in Conformance claims. The hosted assessor at /app is in single-user early access: only allowlisted accounts can sign in.
Spec comments
Comments on the published criteria are public: your name (if you give one), your comment and the time you posted it are shown on the criterion page. You are responsible for what you post. Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, misleading or infringing, do not post spam, and do not post anyone else’s personal information. You keep ownership of your comment and give us permission to store, display and moderate it on the site; we may remove any comment.
Builder requests and paid work
Submitting the Builder request form asks us to get in touch; it does not create a contract or commit either of us to an engagement. Nothing is sold or paid for through this site. Any paid engagement, such as the drift-aware advisory, is agreed in a separately signed Statement of Work, and where that signed agreement conflicts with these terms, the signed agreement prevails for that engagement.
Acceptable use
Do not use the site to break the law; to attack, probe or overload the site or any other system; to get around its rate limits or access controls; to scrape it at a volume that degrades the service; or to present a CARL result or level as something it is not. We may block or limit access that breaks these terms.
Data processing and the DPA
Personal data collected through the site is handled as described in the Privacy & Cookies notice. To request a Data Processing Addendum (DPA), email support@wentzel.ai with “DPA request” in the subject line. There is no self-serve DPA download.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The site, the standard, the scanner and the assessor are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement, except as a separately signed agreement expressly provides.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wentzel Investments LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the site or these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
Governing law and venue
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or your use of the site, are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any such dispute must be brought in the state or federal courts located in the State of Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts, unless a separately signed agreement provides otherwise.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the site changes. When we do, we post the new version on this page with a new date; the version posted when you use the site is the one that applies. Questions about these terms: email hello@wentzel.ai or submit a ticket from the support page.
